The Pools

Glendora has 2 specifically designed pools each equipped with anti swim jets to vary the intensity of the swim.

The larger pool is over 5.5m long and 3.5m wide. It is ideal for free swimming and retrieving toys which maximises the benefits of hydrotherapy as well as providing mental stimulation.

The other pool is smaller and is used as an introduction to the water for new dogs and is perfect for the smaller dogs.

Both pools are maintained at 27-29°C and are continually filtered. The water is cleaned and sanitized with chlorine to human standards.

All dogs wear a buoyant jacket or harness whilst in the pool for their safety.

The Spa

The centre now has a new 8 jet massage spa. Just like a Jacuzzi the water jets massage painful joints and aching muscles which aid the healing process.

It is heated to 38°C and has an adjustable base to accommodate dogs of all shapes and sizes.

The spas is particularly appreciated by the older, arthritic dogs as it helps them warm up quicker so they receive full benefit of their time in the pool.

Entering and Exiting the Pool

Most dogs can use the purpose built ramp to get in and out of the pool. In special cases we can use an electrically powered hoist to gently lift the dog in or out of the pool.

Washing Facilities

All the dogs are rinsed or shampooed after the swim. They are then thoroughly dried off before they go home. The staff are happy to use the dogs own shampoo if preferred.

Bruno was unsure at first but now he really loves his weekly swimming session and he is a different dog, it has really helped reduce the symptoms of the arthritis and the vet is really pleased with the noticeable difference in his health. He looks and acts years younger.
